My name is Elise Voglewede, and I am a Sophomore at St. Joseph High School. Last year, I was a delegate at the National Girl Scout Convention in Columbus, Ohio. At the convention I was able to meet so many empowering women, including Preemadonna’s founder Pree Walia. I was extremely excited by the prospect of the Nailbot, and how it could make doing my nails more efficient and creative.
My whole life I have been interested in all forms of science, but this summer I was able to explore a type of science that I haven’t learned about before. This summer I was one of a few girls selected to go to Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland for a Girl Scout NASA training. Through the next two years, I will be bringing space science back to my community by creating a Girl Scout astronomy club where girls can learn more about space science through hands-on activities. I love how science can be applied to almost everything.
I really enjoy reading and writing. Ever since I was a young girl, you could always find me in a corner with my nose in a book. This is the very reason that for my Girl Scout Silver Award I built a Little Free Library in front of my elementary school. I also helped my community by volunteering at the library with the summer reading program. Because of this service, I was just awarded The President’s Volunteer Service Award. I am always excited about sharing my experiences like my love of writing and science. This is one of the reasons why I like working with Preemadonna, because I can share my experiences through the art on my nails.
In my small amounts of freetime, I like taking photos, going horseback riding, cooking/baking, and hanging out with my friends. In addition, I love to travel, and throughout my life I have been fortunate enough to travel with my dad to many places in Europe and North America. This year, I am also trying diving through my high school diving team. With many grueling honors courses, I have trouble finding time to spend on my nails. This is another reason why I think the Nailbot will be so popular among high school students; it offers a way to put creative designs on your nails in only a few seconds.
