Hi everyone, my name is Julia and I’m so excited to be collaborating with the team behind the Nailbot! I’m an aspiring nail artist, and when the Preemadonna founders spoke at my school, I fell in love with their idea.  I had never thought to combine my interests in nail art and my interests in coding before.  I’m always looking for new nail art techniques, and their presentation was the first time I had seen (or even thought of) printing on nails.  Pure genius!

A little more about me:  I’m currently a junior at Marlborough High School, which is an all-girls school.  I began doing nail art when I was in 8th grade, and I started my Instagram account @nailsofjulia just over a year ago.  At first I was just posting photos, but eventually I began doing tutorials as well.  Since I also enjoy filmmaking, I already had all the gear I needed to film and edit my videos.  I was so surprised by the amount of followers I was gaining.  I was honestly sure I wouldn’t get more then maybe 500, but amazingly I just hit 8000.  One of my favorite aspects of what I do is the nail art community.  I’ve had the honor of collaborating with some amazing nail artists who I otherwise would have never met and all of my followers are so supportive and kind.  It is sometimes hard to keep up creating new designs and editing tutorials because of all the schoolwork, but I make it work as best I can.  I usually end up doing two or three designs over the weekend and then staggering the posting of them so I can focus on school during the week.

Aside from nail art, I also love computer science and I am currently in the AP class at my school.  It is amazing seeing so many brilliant girls learning to code and showing interest in a path that has typically been male-dominated.  Even though nail art is the main art form I practice nowadays, I also do ceramics at my school and I used to try pretty much everything else that sparked my interest: knitting, drawing, painting, filming, etc.  I couldn’t be happier to have found a company that combines so many of my interests and I’m looking forward to working together!
